Hello, Insiders!
Matt here.
I used to listen to a lot of audiobooks when I was a kid. I still remember having a Rambo audiobook on repeat. A Rambo audiobook that was aimed at children. Yes, this now seems very peculiar, as I’m pretty sure the franchise was not aimed at a six-year-old, but back then people didn’t mind corrupting the fragile minds of the innocent.
Different times.
And hey, it never did me any harm! (The fact that I once holed up in the local park with a bag full of guns and knives, ready for a stand-off with the police, is entirely coincidental).
So, audiobooks. They’re a bit of a “thing” these days, aren’t they? An ever-increasing number of you seem to love ’em. For a long while, we kept well away from the audiobook market; it seemed like A LOT of work. But during 2019, and now into 2020, we’ve been making a big ol’ effort to make all of our Uncanny stories available for your ears. And guess what we learned…?
It is A LOT OF WORK.
But you know what? It’s been rewarding to hear our stories, our characters, brought to life, and we’ve had the chance to work with some great narrators (I offered to narrate some myself, but David turned this idea down on the grounds that my voice was “thin”, “northern”, and “horrifically annoying”).
We’re proud of the audiobooks we have out so far, and are excited about all the new ones that’ll be hitting the digital shelves this year (the Dark Lakes series is in the works right now!).
Have you listened to any of our audiobooks? Which one did you enjoy the most? And did anyone else listen to Rambo audiobooks as a child, or was it all a figment of my imagination?
