Hello, Insiders.
Matt here!
It’s Dark Lakes week at the Uncanny Kingdom.
What’s Dark Lakes about? Well, right now it’s about $0.99 for Book One and $1.99 for Book Two, thanks for asking.
Okay, now that unsavoury business is over and done with, let’s talk story…
The Dark Lakes series—unlike most Urban Fantasy series—isn’t set in a well-known city. It doesn’t feature magical goings-on in London, or Vegas, or Paris. No, this UF series is set in the north of England, specifically, an area called the Lake District. You’ll be shocked and also surprised to learn that this area has many lakes.
And pagans.
I mean, it’s bound to, isn’t it? Those out-of-the-way rural places are ripe for pagan shenanigans. You know the type: villagers gathering under a full moon in scarlet robes, ready to sacrifice a virgin in the hope of winning favour with old Beelzebub.
Classic japes.
It’s a perfect setting for a fun, spooky, magicky little series, and it also happens to be where I, the humble author of these books, was brought up. Thankfully, no pagans ever tried to spill my blood, even though I was a full-blown virgin for most of the time I lived there.
If you’ve yet to try the Dark Lakes books, now is the perfect time to delve in. It’s one of our most popular series among readers who have both read it AND enjoyed it. You just can’t argue with that.
So go on, head to the Dark Lakes today and let Joseph Lake, the bumbling warlock, give you the tour:
