Hello, Insiders!
Matt here.
You know, when lockdown began here six months back, I was naive enough to think it would last a month or two, tops. And yet here we are..!
In the UK, they’d just started to relax things when (SURPRISE!) COVID decided to spread itself around a little more and settle in for the winter.
Great.
So now we have fresh restrictions (with more likely) for the foreseeable future. I won’t lie, it’s been difficult working during this period. I’m not sure why, exactly, but I just haven’t been able to concentrate or structure my days, and any grand targets I set myself get missed by a mile.
I’m sure lots of you out there have been in the same boat.
Things started fine enough: I completed the final Other London draft and plotted out a new book, but as the weeks whooshed by, my ability to, well, ‘do stuff’, dove into a ditch.
But still, we’re chugging along. David is on target with his new Jake Fletcher book, set for release later this year, whilst I (painfully slowly) am putting down words for the fourth Dark Lakes book, set for release… at some point in the future. (I’ll get back to you on that…*cough*…)
Things don’t look as though they’re going to get much better any time soon, so it’s time for me to kick this inability to work at a speed I’m happy with right in the boy parts. Joseph Lake is waiting to fight evil, if I’d only get the words down and let him!
Wish me luck…
Matt.
