2022 is almost here, which is weird as that’s clearly a year that appears in the opening on-screen caption for a sci-fi movie, but whatever.
2021 has been a pretty crappy year in many respects, but I did get a baby out of it, so that’s cool (also, I looked into it, had some top guys do some research, and it turns out I have, officially, the best baby. I know some of you out there might think your baby is the best, but honestly, your baby is trash. Sorry. That’s just science).
Writing-wise, this hasn’t been a great year for me. Bit of a struggle. And by “a bit” I mean “A LOOOOOTTTTTT”. My focus went right out the window. What little of it I had to start with. Still. Cool baby.
So what does 2022 have in store, besides an ever-growing number of COVID variants? (okay Matt, keep it light, will you?)
First out of the gate, right at the top of the year, will see David’s latest Spectral Detective entry, Dread Spectre, swagger over-confidently into the world. It was supposed to be out this year, but we decided 2021 doesn’t deserve it. So, 2022 gets to start with a fresh, sparkly, spooky Uncanny Kingdom book. You’re welcome, world.
Aside from that, there will be not one, not two, not four, most likely three, Dark Lakes books, starting with:
The return to Joseph at the Cumbrian Coven will be shorter, sprightlier books than we’ve put out for a while. We’ve concentrated on longer books the last couple of years, but those things are a bugger to write (and did I mention my trouble focusing or writing or doing much of anything?) so it has felt like a breath of fresh air to head back to the Dark Lakes and craft some quick, fun, weird stories for you.
There may be other stuff besides all that, but those four books are certainties. We hope you’re ready to enjoy some fresh, fantastical stories with us.
